Serving United nations Volunteers (UNVs)

For 2007, 68 UNV's Serve in Rwanda ( 27 national, 19 international and 22 Diaspora).. They are assigned in UN agencies and government and 24% of them are female.
UNHCR: 16 (12 international and 3 national) volunteers serve in the field of protection, administration, logistics, and reporting and information technology.
WFP: 2 (1 national volunteer serve as National nutritionist and 1 international HIV/AIDS Program officer)


UNV Rwanda Team with Ms Joyce YU, deputy UNV Executive coordinator (center)

CNLS (Conseil National de Lutte contre le Sida): 17 national volunteers are based in districs level as assistant technical, assistant for HIV/AIDS issues planning, coordination, monitoring and Evaluation.
UN-HABITAT; 1 national UNV is based in MIJESPOC as Assistant to programme coodinator.
UNDP : 2 International UNVs are working as: Program Officer for UNV/Support Office at UNDP and one fully funded International UNV as an Energy Specialist.
UN Dispensary: 1 International UNV is managing the UN dispensary.  

More than 90 Rwandans are working abroad as UN Volunteers, in Kosovo , Guinea Conakry , Côte d'Ivoire , Sierra Leone , East Timor, Somalia, Eritrea , Guinea Bissau, Comoros, Chad , Burundi , Tajikistan , Pakistan , Liberia , Haiti , Mauritius , Central African Republic , Mauritania , Liberia , Sudan , Ethiopia and Afghanistan for peace and development.
Under the TOKTEN Program 22 Diaspora volunteers came for short assignments (1 to 3 months) and worked in different domains which include Education, ICT and Media.

UNV Rwanda Country Team

The UNV programme in Rwanda operates within the division of Programme at the UNDP Rwanda Country Office.
The program is managed by “ Programme Officer ”, Mr. Thomas d'Aquin Yaméogo ( Thomas.yameogo@undp.org ) supported in operational matters by Mrs. Diane Kalikesha ( diane.kalikesha@undp.org ) as “ Country Office Assistant
