Support for Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project development

Background

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) can bring a great opportunity for the least developing countries such as Rwanda to efficiently fight against the climate change and produce new and sustainable income generating opportunities. UNDP is developing projects to support CDM project development for the private sector and to enhance capacity for the Government of Rwanda with regard to CDM application.

EXPECTED OUTCOMES

An enabling policy framework to support an effective system for environment management and ecosystem conservation established.
Capacity at national, district and community level to restore and protect ecosystem of national and global importance against potential degradation strengthened.

EXPECTED OUTPUTS

Policies, regulations, guidelines and standards for environment protection developed and implemented at central and decentralized levels.
Capacity of communities and local Government for ecosystem and land conservation.
